Dr Richard Nero is a researcher at the University of Melbourne in the field of sustainable construction materials and advanced timber systems. His work focuses on the development and behaviour assessment of high-performance engineered wood products and composite timber systems. Dr Nero will describe his research and how post-and-plate design can push timber design boundaries in building projects.
Matthew Burke is a Chartered Structural Engineer and one of Australia’s leading specialists in mass timber design, with over a decade of experience delivering complex projects across the commercial, industrial, education, and residential sectors. Matthew will describe the design and implementation of post-and-plate systems in buildings and provide real-life case studies to demonstrate the case for using a post-and-plate system, the benefits, and indicative costs in comparison to the more traditional systems.
